food frenzy

No, I'm not eating the baby goat!! Food comes later...
This tiny baby goat (10 days old) was following us all around the farm today like a dog, nibbling everything in its path. It was so soft and cuddly (even more so than a chicken!). Baby goats are some of the most adorable creatures (as I'm sure Joseph would attest to.)

I've had a cooking-fest these past few days. I made apple/kumquat cake with chocolate chunks, roasted kale, tempeh with garlic sage tomato sauce, kumquat rhubarb jam scented with lavender, and roasted delicata squash. I also made artichokes for the first time- they're yummy!
I've also found a fun way to waste my time: making these cute little ingredient illustrations of stuff I cook. Great way to pass the hours of studio talk and pretend like I'm a real artist who actually is inspired to sketch something.

I know, looks GRAPHIC. But it was awesome...apple cake with kumquat jam and yogurt with a sprinkle of sugar on top. The green specks are lavender (that was a topsy-turvy color statement).

Tomato sauce: olive oil, garlic, fresh sage, strained tomatoes, red pepper flakes, salt, pepperthem CHOKESand JAM
