movies!

I watch a lot of movies. Probably more than I realize. I've watched the following movies over the past 2 weeks. And I can't write film critiques.

It was a pretty movie, but not much depth in terms of plot.

I liked Inception a lot. I don't usually gravitate towards action movies, but this reminded me that they're out there and can be good.

With Inception on the brain, I watched this, because it's an action movie. I'd never seen any in the Bourne series. Pretty entertaining. I liked the premise a lot.
Found this on Netflix instant play. It was quirky, so much that it kept me interested. I enjoyed it, if anything for its differentness. The lead character really made the movie, played by actor Jay Baruchel, but all actors were great, really cast well.

I love Banksy!! Great documentary. It's got everything- it exposes you to the world of street art, interesting characters, interesting commentary, and takes you all the way through to the question what is art? I have no idea. And really comes to show that every person is a wildcard.

Intermission was sort of weird, but also, entertaining. It's Irish- spoken in English, but I probably missed about 35% of the dialogue because of the accent. I really just watched it because of Cillian Murphy.

Wow, this is not a good movie. I've seen it probably 3 or 4 times, I don't know why. Really, it's just Julia Roberts' character. She's so shallow! All the other characters acted well, really.

This movie was ranked in the top 10 movies of this year in the Houston Chronicle. I was so happy when I came by it by chance in instant play. There's nothing better than dysfunctional family comedies. Really entertaining throughout. I cared about all of the characters.

Came across this, figured I needed a reminder of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

This was fun. It's in German, with subtitles. It was strange, in a foreign movies kind of way. Everything seems silly, overacted, colorful, but I liked it!

I really enjoyed this film. Everyone was perfect in their role, especially Alessandro Nivola. I cared about the characters, which is essential to me to really enjoy any film. Lots of touching moments and a great array of emotions portrayed. And I liked all their cheapskate tactics and schemes.

This was great, too. A really energetic, happy movie, with lovable characters and a greater investigation/critique on the institution of marriage.

ginger cocoa spice thins

This recipe was in the latest Edible Austin publication. And the only cookie cutter I have is a hand. I got it in the Amish country a couple years ago; I love it because it's the creepiest thing ever.

Taylor architecture project video

This video is about my process in achieving my final architecture project. It's a bit oversimplified, just fyi.

Taylor, TX architecture project!

This is my final project for my design V studio. Like the Marfa project, our task was design shelter/art structures, only this time individually. We installed them in Taylor, TX at a community happening, and slept in them for the night. It was a great experience! I LOVED seeing what everyone came up with; 17 people, 17 completely unique projects.
My project came about with a mindset of sustainability. {I use that word seriously, and resent the fact that it's thrown around so much without true meaning and intent.} I saved the full bolt of fabric cut into 6" x 25' strips that we used in our Marfa project, and began the project wanting to reuse that material. My iterations of this project over the last month had much to do with investigating how to make fabric structural. I constructed the triangular frames of bamboo, that I got for free from a guy getting rid of it from is yard. What I made was truly a result of the materials I had on hand.
I'm really happy to say that I'm keeping this wacky hammock, and will hang it on 2 new trees as soon as I can. I'm glad that it's useful beyond this project. And it's comfy!
Here's me chillin. I wasn't done installing my structure yet (look at those frayed edges!), but some visitors were nice enough to offer to shoot my picture!

I'll be posting an accompanying video soon...
